Join us for an exciting K–5 Afterschool Theater Experience as students bring The Wizard of Oz to life on stage!

This professionally guided production gives students the opportunity to:

  • Learn stage skills

  • Build confidence

  • Work as a team

  • Perform in a full theatrical production

Grades K–2

$180 per student
Limited to 40 participants (38% full)

Grades 3–5

$180 per student
Limited to 55 participants (58% full)

About KJK

KJK Productions is a Westchester-based, non-profit theater company founded in 1982 by

Artistic Director Kevin J. Kearins. It specializes in enriching children's lives through musicals,

summer camps, and after-school programs, focusing on teamwork, self-confidence, and

theatrical arts. The organization has produced over 75 Mainstage shows and 200+ children's

productions.

General Info

  • Cost to participate is $180. Included is the professional theater experience for rehearsals

  • and performance day, a keepsake tshirt, and a professional recording of the show via

  • download. A no-refund policy is in effect.

  • Registration is open and will close on March 9th. We are capped at 95 spots - no more

  • than 55 students in grades 3-5 and 40 K-2 students

  • Emergency contact on the registration must be different than the Parent name listed.

  • Please double check the shirt size entered for your child. All youth sizes are labeled

  • youth, the others are adult sizing.

  • Upon registering, children will be a part of the show, but not guaranteed a speaking part

  • and/or singing solo.

  • All participants will receive access to KJK's portal that has information regarding

  • costume requirements and hairstyles.

  • Children must attend rehearsals according to the rehearsal schedule set forth or they

  • can be replaced.

  • Performance Day is Saturday, May 2nd at 11am and 2pm.

  • If there is a canceled rehearsal due to weather or unforeseen reasons, the following 4

  • days of rehearsal will be extended by 15 minutes for grades 3-5. If 2 or more days are

  • canceled, the following 4 days of rehearsal will be extended by 30 minutes for all grades.

  • Children are required to wear either a white t-shirt and shorts or a sleeved

  • leotard/bathing suit/shorts underneath ALL costumes.

  • Cell phone usage and other technology is prohibited during rehearsals and

  • performances by both students and parent/guardian volunteers.

  • Children are expected to behave appropriately and be respectful to KJK staff, fellow

  • students, and parent volunteers.

  • Children must be dropped off and picked up promptly.

  • Only those on our pre-approved volunteer list will be permitted into the rehearsal spaces

  • and school building.

  • There is to be no contact made via phone or e-mail to KJK production staff. We will

  • communicate any questions to them.

K-2 Students (Choir)

Week 1 of Rehearsals

  • Monday, 4/20/2026 through Friday, 4/24/2026 from 3:30pm-4:30pm at Hawthorne Elementary School

Week 2 of Rehearsals

  • No Monday or Tuesday

  • Wednesday, 4/29/2026 from 3:30 to 4:30pm at Westlake High School

  • Thursday, 4/30/2026 and Friday, 5/1/2026 from 3:30 to 5:45 pm at Westlake High School

 

Grades 3-5 Students

Week 1 of Rehearsals

  • Monday, 4/20/26 through Friday, 4/24/2026 from 3:30pm to 5:45pm at Hawthorne Elementary School

Week 2 of Rehearsals

  • Monday, 4/27/2026 through Friday, 5/1/2026 from 3:30pm to 5:45pm at Westlake High School

KJK'S student portal has all of the casting information.

The audition process is virtual and children's casting video must be submitted by

Monday, 3/23/2026. They need to prepare by being familiar with or having memorized

their songs and/or lines.

Between casting and the first rehearsal, children’s lines are to be memorized.

KJK will provide a Cast List with a role/script distribution by early April. We will notify families once we receive this information.

 

Volunteer Info

Parent/Guardian Opportunities

Rehearsals and Performance Day (Divided into Time Slots)

Costume Crew

  • 2 parent volunteers to coordinate KJK costumes used for our production.

  • On-Stage Supervision

  • Callers

  • 2 parent volunteers to be “callers” during dress rehearsals and

  • performances (get students from dressing areas to the backstage area)

  • Sound & Lighting Crew

  • 1 or 2 volunteers

  • Student Opportunities

Rehearsals

  • Assist with sound and lighting

 

Performance Day

  • Sell concessions

  • Sell flowers

  • Sell candy bouquets

🙋 Volunteer Opportunities

📌 PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS

 

During registration, families will be asked to provide:

  • Student name

  • Grade & teacher

  • T-shirt size (youth/adult options)

  • Gender

  • Willingness to play another gender role

  • Emergency contact information

  • Agreement to the participant contract
